About This Site

Good morning!

My name is Dave Winer, and I'm helping Mike Palmer and John Doerr at Kleiner Perkins and Celeste Wheeler at Taxpayers Against Frivolous Lawsuits develop a web presence for the campaign against strike suits.

As with all web-based projects we're still digging! If you're a an investor, director, or a webmaster at one of the companies supporting the project, please check this site frequently. It will become the administrative site for the project. The public presence will be elsewhere.

I'm working with Brent Simmons and eventually will work with other members of the Frontier scripting community. It isn't the first time this community has been involved in a web-based political process. Brent and several other sysops played a vital role in the 24 Hours of Democracy project in successful opposition to the Communication Decency Act, on February 22, 1996.

We'll start discussing this project with the webmasters at supporting companies. The campaign will produce lots of copy and graphics and commercials, there will be of opportunities to showcase new technology.

We'll be using the web to help sell our point of view. We can sell your ideas too. So if you're the CEO of a technology company, please send the URL of this page to your webmaster, or ask them to send me private email at dwiner@well.com.

This initiative is another attack on creativity on the net. As before, let's use our best technology to prove the point. Clearly we need access to capital to make our businesses grow. Without a healthy investment climate we can't create new technology, growth and more jobs.

To webmasters: Take the time to learn what this is about. Read the articles pointed to from the home page of this site. Then let's organize our resources to keep the spark of creativity alive in high tech.

Be positive! We won the battle against the Communications Decency Act. We'll win this one too. This is going to be fun!
